Public Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & First Aid Training Courses
Skagit County EMS, in conjunction with the American Health and Safety Institute (ASHI), offers CPR/ First Aid and AED training. The certification is good for 2 years and training includes Infant, Child & Adults. The cost of the class is $65.00 per person and space is limited.
Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home or in a public location die because they do not receive immediate CPR from someone on scene. Those first few minutes, after 911 is called, are important. Providing proper CPR can drastically increases a cardiac arrest victims chances of survival.
The ASHI CPR, AED and Basic First Aid training program is intended for individuals who are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers but desire or are required to be certified in CPR, the use of an AED, and first aid. There are no class prerequisites.
This course includes the Adult, Child and Infant training program. It provides a broad training for most applications.
The goal of this training program is to help students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond in a medical emergency. Founded in basic principles of instructional design and learning theory, ASHI promotes a “toolbox” approach to learning. This approach gives instructors flexibility in both presentation strategies and material in order to reach students with widely varying ability in the countless instructional settings that exist in the real world. CRP, AED and Basic First Aid is designed to include a significand amount of hands-on skill practice.
